My signal for summer was Chris wrapping up his Spring Semester last Thursday and the teens’ last day of school today. I am so ready for weeks of fun. I started planning our family trip months ago. We’ll be flying to Austin, TX to meet up with my parents (who are driving up from Houston) to celebrate my mama’s 60th birthday and 3 years cancer-free with her sisters and their families (they are driving in from Alabama and Dallas).
We’ll be staying in a vacation rental for three and a half days with the whole family. It will be my dad’s first time meeting Omie too. My dad is a little machismo, but gets so emo over family. I know there will be happy tears. My mom doesn’t know we’re planning a little party for her and I was inspired to recreate a white sangria I had in Miami last month. The Gallo Family Vineyards white moscato was so vibrant in the sangria and shined all on its own. Kinda like my mama during her surgery and treatment. It is the perfect base for cocktails to cool off during the long weekend and the summer season! My mama and my aunts are so fun when they get together, true masters in the kitchen and I’m ready to show off what I can do with a bottle of wine.
• Peach Vodka
• Peach Shrub
• Fresh Pineapple
• Fresh Orange Juice
• Gallo Family Vineyards White Moscato
• Orange Slices
Add 1 oz. peach vodka, 1 oz. peach shrub, 3 oz. moscato and 1 oz. fresh orange juice into a pitcher with ice. Muddle the pineapple and add into the pitcher, stir. Pour into a glass with fresh ice and add an orange slice, one raspberry and a couple blueberries!
Gallo Family Vineyards makes three deliciously sweet Moscato wines with a suggested retail price of $5 a bottle. The Original White Moscato features tasty peach flavors (which is perfect for my white sangria). The Pink Moscato has notes of aromatic orange blossom. The Red Moscato has a yummy red berry finish.
