Dumb Ways JR Is For Kid Gamers

Preschool gamers are a thing. My four year old started gaming when he was a toddler. He even beat a game once. Yep, times done changed. Gone are the simpler days of playing hide and seek. The only time my boy seeks me out is to refill his sippy cup or to type in the password so he can download more apps. I can’t wait till he can type in the password himself. Since he is still a kid, I limit what types of games he can play. It has to fall under my criteria: fun + educational. If he’s not learning something, I won’t even bother. 100% of my day is saying no to new apps or other in-game purchases to which he counters WHY.

And then there are the rare days where I find a cute game like Dumb Ways JR Boffo’s Breakfast that even I want to play. Those days are Christmas for my little one. Boffo (the younger version of one of the characters in the original Dumb Ways to Die video) is hungry and your kid gets to play his personal chef. The fun factor here is making an awesome breakfast by chopping and grating ingredients, adding sloppy items like eggs and milk, stirring, adding seasonings and serving to Boffo. Kitchen safety is something I’ve always taught my sons. I am a huge fan of engaging kids in experimentation through open-ended play.

Gameband for your Minecraft Maniac

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #GameOnTheGo #CollectiveBias#GameOnTheGo raisedbyculture.comI had to take a picture the day I bought my kid this Gameband cause I don’t remember the last time he gave me that big of a smile! I do remember exactly when Duke got sucked into the world that is Minecraft. The curiosity started last summer, he played the demo for a few months and asked for a “real” account for Christmas. That’s when it sort of becomes a blur – the laptop we handed down to him was old and outdated, running slow and we decided to buy him a new laptop. I assumed he would just log on to his Minecraft account and his meticulously crafted Worlds would be there. WRONG. Whoa was I ever wrong. There were tears. Actual tears. Fast forward to the new Gameband Minecraft™ that hit stores just in time for the holidays (but not only for the holidays) – it lets you take your Worlds with you and play anywhere, anytime – on any computer. Even at the big bad wolf, I mean grandma’s house!

We found it at Target! Right in the Mobile/Cloud Gaming section.

GameStop Expo 2014

#GameStopExpo raisedbyculture.comDisclosure: I was invited to attend as media. All thoughts are my own.

GameStop Expo is awesome. I’m not just saying it as a mom who took her 8 year old gamer son. (My teenagers are gamers too and I might have been obsessed with Animal Crossing at one point of my adult life) I’m saying it as a lover of cons. What I loved is there wasn’t an overload of everything. Other cons are crowded with people, stuff and endless amounts of things to do, that it tends to get so overwhelming for me and especially my kids. While I love all of that, I love being able to just enjoy at my leisure. No wasting away in long lines and no rushing from one signing to the next.

#TheSims4 raisedbyculture.comYou met my alter ego, Goldie Loca last week. I like her, she’s pretty spiffy. This week, I finally got my hands on The Sims 4! Like the dork I can be, I showed up at my local Walmart to buy it on the release date. I need to bring back Goldie and start growing her family. I plan on starting her off with a few sisters and seeing where that goes. But before I get lost in the game, I staged a fun photo shoot with my family as The Sims™ cause I couldn’t resist recreating the thought bubbles!

I’m not a mind reader but I bet Omie is thinking about pizza…

#TheSims4 raisedbyculture.comBack in the days, maybe way way back in the days… I played The Sims™. It was right around the time the Internet was new and everything was poppin’. I have never been much of a gamer but The Sims™ was fun and a big stress reliever for me. I lived for making my home. One of my friends never stopped playing and I’m always intrigued at the characters she creates, their homes and their lives. She even started designing clothes and offers them to other players to download. So when I heard The Sims 4™ was releasing on 9/2 with smarter Sims, weirder stories and vibrant neighborhoods, I wanted in!

Walmart has the best pre-order price and exclusive bonuses! For $59.96 you get a pack of new Sour Patch Kids Gum, Sims 4 keychain, VUDU movie credits, digital magazine and digital strategy guide! You can pre-order here.
