On The Go With Omie

We’re kinda lucky where we live. The elotero (the vendor that sells elotes, raspados and other Mexican treats from his cart) shows up in our courtyard. The neighborhood produce truck is only two blocks away. He’s there seven days a week, about ten hours a day. Mostly when it’s daylight. I never want to move cause we got it like that. When Duke was in kindergarten, we would take a detour to get ice cream sandwiches after school. It was our thing. Now that Omie is a little older but not yet in school, we venture out on days when he’s good, for ice cream. He loves the walk, holding daddy’s hand and telling me about the ice cream we’re going to get. I live for days like these.

Where’s The 7th Minion?

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #The7thMinion #CollectiveBias
#The7thMinion raisedbyculture.comI don’t want to say I’m a sucker for free toys but I am. A little backstory, love story: the fascination started when I was a kid in the 80s. I was the first child and grandchild so I pretty much had free reign. There were days my parents would drop me off at nana’s house (cause work) and I’d raid cereal boxes for the free prize. Those were the days. I legit looked forward to being at grandma’s house cause toys + cereal. My grandma was cool like that. I have vivid memories of toys on the front of cereal boxes and waiting patiently that whole car ride home to dig in and find out what I got. I wanted that for my kids! The thing is, I always assumed my children would have that same experience but for whatever reason, I got older and toys completely disappeared from cereal.

My kids with their eagle eyes don’t let anything get past them. The toddler screamed “Mom! Wook!” when we cruised past this endcap at Walmart. And just like that, toys made it back in cereal boxes. There are 7 Minions inside specially marked boxes of General Mills cereal. My boy won’t stop until we have all 7 in our possession.
#The7thMinion raisedbyculture.comGuess what? We got doubles! Where is the 7th Minion?! He’s a prehistoric one and can only be found at Walmart!
#The7thMinion raisedbyculture.com1 down, 6 to go!
#The7thMinion raisedbyculture.comHere’s 5 Minions right here! Stuart, Omie, Kevin, Duke & Bob. My minions for sure. Except I’m not that evil and they are looking for a new evil boss. Sorry guys, you’ll have to find someone else!

Bath Time With Daddy

I used JOHNSON’S® to care for my little one as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #johnsonspartners #SoMuchMore
#SoMuchMore raisedbyculture.comWhen dad gives a bath, it’s a celebration. A bonafide invitation to good times and the toddler knows this. This baby never says no. It starts with dad drawing the perfect bath and yelling out, “who wants to take a bath?” Without skipping a beat, my littlest one Omie starts running around picking out his favorite toys. Hands full and happy, he reports right to the bathroom. I hear those laughs and stick my head in the door. Dad is the master of bubble baths. He takes his time, growing a floating mass of bubbles. Playing is taken to another level and generally gets to have all the fun. And I’m okay with that. Bath time is bonding time and any time Omie can get one-on-one time with daddy makes me jealous. Just kidding. I share.

JOHNSON’S® baby bubble bath is our favorite. Big bubbles and NO MORE TEARS® makes for all the fun. Gentle enough to use once a day, just add water! And maybe a rubber ducky. There is never a wrong time for a bath!

5 Big Reasons You Should Register For Brain Chase

#BrainChase #AdventureLearning raisedbyculture.com
Thank you to #BrainChase for introducing #AdventureLearning to our family and our readers! All thoughts are my own.

The countdown is on. We’re only 10 days from finally starting this year’s Brain Chase adventure. This is our first year doing the summer learning program and if you don’t know how excited we are, you haven’t been paying attention! I was sold on the real summer treasure hunt. The golden trophy and $10,000 scholarship are just extra. I come from an era where Goonies ruled my world, it was life. I daydreamed about real treasure hunts.

Your New At Knott’s Summer Checklist

#NewAtKnotts #KnottsIronReef raisedbyculture.comDrums please! Summer, summer, summertime! Summer officially starts at California’s best theme park – Knott’s Berry Farm on June 13! Summer means freedom. Free to sleep in, sleep late, finally no homework (cause homework for them is homework for you) and do whatever you want for at least two months. Oh to be a kid again! We usually do a big family trip each summer but this year we’re staying close to home. Methinks we’ll be just fine with our season passes to the farm and Soak City!

  • First things first, you have to save Knott’s from the Kraken Queen! Voyage to the Iron Reef is the park’s newest ride. Wait, is it a ride or is it a game? The hybrid 4D interactive game ride is nothing short of spectacular. Beat your kids score, make them cry.
  • Cool down in the Charles M. Schulz Theatre with Snoopy’s new ice show, Blockbuster Beagle! The ice shows are my absolute favorite attraction at Knott’s cause air conditioning and seats. Just kidding.
  • In the day, make your way to the Calico Square Stage for Vertical Impact. The high energy show is set to today’s most popular songs combining trampoline stunts, bmx bikes, skaters, dancers and aerialists. At night, it switches up to Vertical Impact, Geared Up! The stunts are electrified and taking it to the next level. DJ Nytemadness will be on the ones and twos keeping the party going! Every show ends with an informal meet and greet so get your selfie sticks ready!
  • Big Band Swingin’ Sundays, Krazy Kirk and the Hillbillies, Ghost Town Miners Bluegrass, Big Fat Steve Band, Salsa Dancing and Charlie Brown’s Happy Campers will keep the Farm buzzing with fun this summer. Pick up a schedule when you get in the park to see what’s going on.
  • The streetmosphere of Ghost Town is alive with new residents Clem Culpepper, Ma & Pa Shine, Nathan Quickly and these other townsfolk! Come back and tell me which one is your favorite. I’m gonna stalk Ma & Pa Shine and get them to tell me all about the moonshine biz.
  • I dare you to find the Catawampus. I never knew he existed until this year. I’ve been going to the park since I was a tween. I always learn something new with each visit!

Out And About Is Where Fun Begins

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #WhereFunBegins #CollectiveBias
#WhereFunBegins raisedbyculture.comIt’s rough being my kid sometimes. See, some days I wake them up super early, and on other days I mostly drag them everywhere. There is an immense amount of mom guilt that comes with that so instead of buying my children things, Chris and I plan fun days where they don’t have to do anything but play. There isn’t an official name for these days yet but you can bet they are super popular. On those days, we can wear our best mom ever + best dad ever crowns. We usually start making plans the day before but on this play day, we wanted to surprise them. So naturally we tricked them! We got them ready and proceeded to do a little grocery shopping. Picked up some sandwiches and made our way to our local park. When we pulled up, my littlest started screaming YESSSSSssssSSSSSSsss! Cause you know, the park is where fun begins.

You can’t fake or force that smile. Pure happiness on my baby. I know where we’ll be this summer!
